Stupid ‘teenagers’ filmed themselves feeding cigarettes to a poor horse and the video was later sent to the owner.

In a seven-second snapchat video with the caption ‘He’s feeding the horses fags’ followed by ten emoji faces crying with laughter, a boy in a red baseball cap can be seen feeding a cigarette to a horse.

Your Local Guardian:

A worried man who works on the farm in Park Road, Banstead, had told a group of about 15 ‘teenagers’ stroking his horses to leave them alone, as in the past teenagers had thrown objects at them and chased them – but never, to his knowledge, fed them anything.

Your Local Guardian:

His pleas were ignored, and the shocking video was later sent to him by a friend. The footage was then shared on the What's on in Banstead Facebook group.

The man – who wanted to remain anonymous – told the Epsom Guardian: “We want to be able to enjoy where we live and enjoy our animals

“We kept telling them week-in, week-out, year on year, but it has got to the point where we don’t know what to do.

“I’m on edge, to be honest.”

The owner is confident that people seeing the video – which has now been viewed more than 40,000 times on social media – will act as a deterrent by shaming those responsible.

“I think if they see that we are not going to stand for it, they will stop,” he said.

“Unless they are very, very stupid they will stay away.

“We all try and pull together in Banstead, and I believe that if people know who they are, they will not have a quiet time.”

The horse who was fed the cigarette seems to “be OK”, he said, but they have been moved into a separate field away from the road, along with the farm’s six other horses.

He added: “They can’t be that smart to feed stuff to the horses and them film it, and then put it on social media. They must know they are going to get caught.

“They’ve got to be ashamed. Surely they can’t be proud of it.”

Surrey Police is investigating the incident – which happened at about 5.15pm on Tuesday (March 28).
