Restaurants for Circus West Village, the first chapter of the Battersea Power Station regeneration project, have been announced.

The area will only welcome independent retailers in an effort to sustain a warm, village feel.

The new additions, which will open this summer, include Mother, an Italian pizza restaurant from Copenhagen’s meatpacking district, seafood restaurant Wright Brothers, Dodd’s Gin, Ben’s Canteen which specialises in burgers and wine, and specialist in seasonal and simple cooking, Duckroad.

Rob Tincknell, CEO of the Battersea Power Station Development Company, said: "Creating a new cultural and food quarter for London as part of the £9 billion redevelopment of Battersea is an exciting challenge.

"We are striving to deliver the best mix of independent, authentic and fun British and international operators - an extension of the existing local community, a place for people to visit, be entertained, try something new, work and live."

Last week Battersea Power Station opened a new stretch of Thames riverbank to the public for the first time since the 1930s.

Leader of Wandsworth Council Ravi Govindia has welcomed the “exciting” development.

He said: "It’s exciting to see more new restaurants coming to Battersea and the Battersea Power Station team have done a tremendous job of attracting independent traders you won’t find on the high street.

"These new arrivals, when they open this summer, will bring a whole new dimension to the local area and another new wave of jobs.

"The Nine Elms riverside is now being transformed from an industrial no-go area to a new centre for food, arts, culture and business.”
