The owners of a PlayStation 4 were “distraught” after it caught fire yesterday evening.
The console was reduced to a “big, molten black mess”, and the first-floor bedroom in which it was kept was damaged by smoke, according to firefighters.

Crews from Epsom and Leatherhead fire stations were called to the blaze in Albany Park Road, Leatherhead (pictured above) at about 7.30pm yesterday (Sunday, January 22).
Two firefighters using breathing apparatus entered the smoke-filled bedroom to extinguish the fire with a hose reel, after the owners had unplugged the PS4 and unsuccessfully doused it with water.
After putting out the fire, the crews took the console, the cabinet in which it was kept, and a TV from the room to the front garden.
Two young men, believed to be the main users of the console, suffered sight smoke inhalation, according to a spokesman from Epsom fire station.
There was no smoke alarm in the house, and the men were alerted to the fire by the smell, firefighters believe.
A spokesman from Epsom fire station said: “The PS4 was a big, molten black mess. They were distraught.”
