A business development manager has admitted the charge of manslaughter from a single punch following a prank.

Alexander Thomson, 32, was on a night out in central London when he allegedly punched Thomas Hulme, 23, in the head after the victim threw Thomson’s shoe out the window of a minicab as a prank.

Mr Hulme, of Tooting, collapsed when he got out of the cab on Farringdon Street at around 11.20pm on August 26 as he was suffering from a brain haemorrhage.

He was taken to hospital but was died the following evening.

Thomson, of Bromwood Road, Clapham, was arrested and charged with manslaughter.

Relatives of the victim sat in court today (January 6) as Thomson pleaded guilty to the charge.

The court heard the defendant had issues with alcohol consumptions and is attending counselling sessions.

His lawyer Lisa Wilding QC said he had “matters recorded against him” in the past.

She said: "Alexander Thomson recognises a custodial sentence will be the expected sentence following his guilty plea.

"He now abstains completely from alcohol."

Judge Anthony Bate adjourned sentencing to March 10 to allow for a report to be compiled with Thomson given conditional bail.
