Repair work on a collapsed sewer in Mitcham is not expected to begin until next week.
The sewer, at the junction of Upper Green East and London Road, collapsed overnight on Tuesday, December 6.

One lane has been closed on the road until the sewer can be repaired, but a spokesman from Thames Water confirmed today, Friday, December 9, that work will not begin until next week.
He was unable to give an estimate on how long the repair work will take.
A spokeswoman for Merton Council said an engineer was on site, and they were waiting on confirmation from Thames Water on when work will begin.
Drivers have been warned to avoid the area if possible.
