A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after he was assaulted in Sutton this weekend.

Police were called to the High Street, near Tazza Coffe, after the man had been attacked at about 1.30am on Saturday, December 3.

A Met Police spokeswoman confirmed the man was taken to hospital and was said to be in a critical condition.

He was said to be stable on Monday, December 5.

Sutton CID are investigating and have yet to make an arrest in connection with the assault.

The assault happened yards away from Manor Place where a 24-year-old was stabbed on Tuesday, November 22.

It is the third serious attack where victims have been left fighting for their lives in three weeks.

Sutton police issued a statement following the stabbing and assault to reassure residents that crime was falling in the borough despite the recent attacks.
