Firefighters used ladders to hop over barbed wire fences to get to a flaming motorbike in Epsom, burnt in a suspected arson attack last night.

The burning motorbike was “100 per cent destroyed”, according to a spokesman from Epsom fire station who fought the fire.

The crew were called to the fire in Oakdale Road, near Hook Road Arena, at about midnight.

Surrey Police stated that the attack is reported to have happened between 11.50pm on Monday, August 29 and midnight.

Firefighters from Epsom fire station used short extension ladders to hop over the fences before using a hose reel jet to extinguish the burning motorbike.

Firefighters believe the fire may have been started deliberately and have informed Surrey Police.

A fire investigation is being carried out.

A spokesman from Epsom fire station added: “It was going quite well when we arrived. It took a while to put out.”

A spokeswoman from Surrey Police said: "Surrey Police officers are aware of a suspected arson attack on a motorcycle.

"We are currently investigating the incident to decipher what actually happened."
