A THEATRE company set up by a group of students from Esher College has proven to be a resounding critical success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

GreanTea Productions put on a two-week run of its WW2 play Immortal.

Critics praised the production, with one theatre blog awarding the company five stars and including it in its top five favourite shows of the Fringe festival 2016.

The play itself was written by Ciaran McConville, director of learning and participation at the Rose Theatre in Kingston.

He first performed the show himself at the Fringe in 2002, before handing the script to director Nicole Burley, 20, who he mentored at the Rose.

Miss Burley, who founded GreanTea with executive producer Olly Fawcett, said: “We’re thrilled that Immortal has been so well received at the Fringe.

“It’s been a wonderful experience for everyone involved – from our amazing crew to our incredibly talented cast.

“We’ve learned so much and we’re very proud to have represented Kingston at the world’s biggest arts festival.”

Executive producer Olly Fawcett said: “I’m very happy and immensely proud of the team for making our debut Fringe show such a success.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who came to watch Immortal, who enjoyed it and helped spread the word. We were quietly confident people would enjoy the show, but the incredible response has surpassed our expectations.”
