"Fresh" water has been bubbling up from a pothole in Putney for nearly two weeks, a bar owner has claimed.

Robert Celovsky, who runs the Dutch Courage bar in Upper Richmond Road, noticed the problem about two weeks ago, when he spotted a small crack in the road.

Wandsworth Times:

He contacted Thames Water on July 14 and said he was told they were aware of the issue, and that works had been done there before.

He said: "I told them that the amount of water pouring out is greatly increasing and that many neighbours had raised the issue with us.

"I made them aware that it's fresh drinking water pouring out and I've been told that in that case it needs to be sorted soon as possible."Wandsworth Times:

Mr Celovsky said he was told the problem would be fixed by July 15, but later received a text simply confirming a date for works would be set.

In the video, water can be seen to be bubbling from the hole as cars splash through the puddle, created on some of the hottest days of July this year.

A spokesman for Thames Water said: "We’ve worked overnight this week using special equipment to listen to the pipe to trace the leak and, now we’ve found it, we can plan the repair work.

"This will most likely be done at night to keep disruption to a minimum. In many cases the leak on the pipe is not in the same place that the water can be seen as it runs to the lowest point and this is what we believe is happening on Upper Richmond Road."
