Bourne Hall Museum held the first of a series of presentations to commemorate 100 years since The Battle of the Somme last weekend.
The free event was held at Bourne Hall Park and was displayed by the 10th Essex living history group.
At the presentation, people were able to see what life was like for the soldiers during the battle which lasted 141 days and is possibly the most famous conflict of World War One.
Equipment and weapons used by the soldiers in trench warfare were on show for people to see, the same weapons which contributed to The Battle of the Somme being one of the bloodiest battles of the war, resulting in more than 1.5 million casualties.
On June 30, there will be a showing of the film ‘The Battle of the Somme’ as well as an act of remembrance in the Park at 9pm.
More showings are on July 7 at 2pm, July 9 at 10am, and July 13 at 8pm. All showings are free and run for about 72 minutes.
