The founder of Croydon’s burgeoning “tech city” cluster has launched his own clothing line to show his “hometown pride”.
Nearly 30 years after a model scout spotted Addiscombe teenager Kate Moss at a New York airport, the borough’s latest entry into the fashion history books comes in the form of streetwear label “Croydon vs the World”.
Launched on Monday by 29-year-old Jonny Rose, the black and white t-shirts, jumpers and bags draw inspiration from similar ideas in global cities including Sydney, Toronto, and Detroit.
Mr Rose said: “The idea just came about three weeks ago – I was searching online and came across the concept of ‘hometown pride’ t-shirts.
“I just thought it would be a really cool concept to do a t-shirt for Croydon that engendered pride, and that people would be proud to wear it.”
A launch event for Croydon vs the World will be held at Rise Gallery in St George’s Walk at 7pm on June 3.
