A woman who was the victim of a sexual assault in Tooting Broadway station has spoken out about her experience.

Jessica Brady was targeted by Ilyas Firah, 36, on the Northern Line when she boarded at Balham.

In this video, she explains seeing him smiling at her and realising he was following her off the train and up the escalator.

Ms Brady said: "I was travelling towards Tooting Broadway on the Northern Line.

"I was about half 11 at night.

"I stood up and he came behind me, and I felt a hand brush across my bottom.

"I thought it was the hustle and bustle of getting off the tube."

She then felt him put her hand on her bottom again, and tell her "you have a very innocent face, do you understand? I like it."

Ms Brady said: "That is when I knew this was a bit untoward.

"I was a bit shocked to be honest."

Firah continued to speak to her and put his hand on and off her bottom.

Ms Brady attempted to move away from him on the escalator, but he pursued her, speaking to her and touching her.

She said: "I was just thinking I need to get out of this station."

Ms Brady reported the crime and British Transport Police began investigating CCTV.

Footage showed Firah, of Ashvale Road, Tooting regularly travelling to Balham and he was arrested there in May.

Detective Constable Allan McTaggart said: "This man sexually assaulted another passenger and I am pleased the courts recognised the severity of his actions which were totally unacceptable.

"This type of behaviour will not be tolerated on the London Underground and we will always take reports of unwanted sexual behaviour extremely seriously.

"Nobody should fear using public transport, and we are committed to making the rail network a safe place for passengers and a hostile environment for potential sex offenders.

"I am pleased Firah has been brought before the courts to answer for his actions, and I would also like to thank Jessica for having the courage to report it to us."

Firah denied three counts of sexual assault but was found guilty on February 10 at Blackfriars Crown Court.

Firah was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, and has been placed on the sex offenders' register for seven years.
