A man has been arrested in Germany in connection with the murder of a Walton man killed more than 20 years ago.
Paul Milburn, 43, was shot in his car in Noke Lane, St Albans, on Monday, April 26, 1993, and died at the scene.
In June of last year, detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit (BCH MCU) had re-appealed for information about the whereabouts of Jason Clarke, 59, who they had wanted to speak to since 1993 in connection with Mr Milburn’s death.
The appeal had also featured on Crimewatch on May 26 last year where several calls were received and the information provided was looked at by detectives.
Mr Clarke was arrested yesterday in Berlin under a European Arrest Warrant following close work between the German authorities, the National Crime Agency and BCH MCU officers.
An 81-year-old woman from Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire was also arrested last night on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released on bail until March 8.
The extradition process to return Mr Clarke to the UK has now begun.
