The man killed by a train at Surbiton station yesterday was a 47-year-old Esher man.

Emergency services were called to the station 7.30am after the man reportedly fell from platform two.

British Transport Police have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.

The station was closed for about two hours and police also cordoned off Ewell Road bridge after initial reports he had fallen from high above the railway line.

A spokesman for BTP said: “We were called to Surbiton to reports of a person being struck by a train.

“Colleagues from London Ambulance Service also attended and a 47-year-old man from Esher was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious, and his family has been informed.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
