A driver crashed into a bank next to Raynes Park station last night.

Witnesses described the driver losing control at the traffic lights, sending the black BMW spinning out of control into the Lloyds Bank on Coombe Lane.

It then richoched off the wall, before coming to a halt outside a Boots pharmacy.

No one was hurt in the crash, which happened at around 6.35pm last night.

Merton police tweeted to say that one person had been arrested for drink-driving following the crash.

Rohan Clinnick, who arrived shortly after the crash, said: "I heard from two people that the driver had come from the Wimbledon side, flying round the corner and then when he got to the traffic lights he must have tried to brake.

"He went straight into the bank. He went into the glass and bounced off the pillar, and then spun around until he stopped at the Boots."

He added: "It's incredible no one was hurt. The car was totalled. It's suprising the guy was okay."
