Mental health will be top of the agenda at the start of this month, as organisers anticipate the “most wide-ranging and engaging” Epsom mental health week to date.

Charity Love Me Love My Mind has released details of the events that are due to take place between October 3 and 11.

Epsom and Ewell MP Chris Grayling will discuss the contribution politicians can make to people’s mental health and Dr Max Pemberton will look at living with schizophrenia.

The charity’s chairwoman, Sue Bull, said: “The week is about aiming to address the whole spectrum of mental health, including both personal wellbeing and the bigger political picture.”

The week will also be punctuated by workshops in which people who have used mental health services share their experiences The theme of the week is Days of Hope and hands-on workshop sessions will include mindfulness and expert advice on nutrition.

Mrs Bull said a strong focus on creativity will look at how performing arts can help boost mental health, and the Pop Up Book Group will feature for the third year running.

There is even a look at Shakespearean characters who experienced depression.

A church service will be held at St Barnabas Church on October 4 and a multi-faith forum will consider faith and mental health. Further information about Epsom mental health week can be found at lovemelovemymind.org.uk.
