Police have drafted in extra officers to patrol the town centre as thousands of freshers explore Kingston's night-life during their first week of university.

A Kingston police officer wrote on Twitter: "We want people to come to #Kingston & have a good time without becoming the victim of crime."
He said the borough had drafted in "loads" of extra police to patrol the town centre.
Police were also encouraging students to register their phones, tablets and laptops in case they were stolen.

Kingston University's freshers' week began on Tuesday and ends on Friday, September 25.
