The Wimbledon Brewery will be holding screenings of big matches during the eagerly awaited Rugby World Cup.

Throughout the six week tournament the historic brewery will screen 14 games on its 80ins big screen, including every England match.

For £20, fans will get entry, two pints of the brewery’s home brew - the Common pale ale or Tower special pale ale - a barbecue burger and entry to the Christmas prize draw.

There will be a pre-match tour of the new brewery which opened in June this year, and a tasting session of local ales.

The brewery has also teamed up with Marcus Miller, owner of the local Miller’s Bakery, to create rugby ball shaped patties and a beer bread for the burgers.

The meat will be provided by the acclaimed M. Moen and Sons butcher based in Clapham.

Mark Gordon, who left his job in banking in 2013 to set up the Wimbledon Brewery, revived an historic brand which went up in flames almost 130 years ago.

Wimbledon resident Mr Gordon said: "We want to offer the people of Merton fun experiences while enjoying our beer and what better way to do so than watching some top class rugby in the beating heart of our brewery?"

The first event starts on Friday, September 18 at 5pm with England kicking off against Fiji at 8pm.

Richard Coltart, director of sales, said: "We are delighted to be hosting the Rugby World Cup at our new SW19 brewery.

"We look forward to welcoming local residents for six weeks of top sport, great ale, delicious food and a whole lot of fun."

Demand is expected to be high and there is a capacity of 60 people per match.

Tickets are available now and are being issued on a first come first served basis. They can be reserved by contacting the brewery at enquiries@wimbledonbrewery.com or by phoning 020 3674 9786.
