A Facebook post is warning people to watch out for a mystery cat nabber in Beddington and Carshalton.

The post described seeing a man attempting to steal a ginger cat from a garden in Wallington Green yesterday morning.

He ss described as an south-east Asian man in his late 30s to early 40s and in the photographs attached appears to be wearing a black jacket and grey jeans.

Witness Lucy Bradbury, who was in a flat nearby, described seeing the man approaching cats that belonged to a neighbour with cat food before taking photos on his phone of the ginger cat.

Tens of cats have been reported as missing by their owners in recent weeks on social media.

According to Miss Bradbury the man then suddenly picked up the ginger cat and attempted to leave the garden at about 9am before people shouted at him from their window.

As he put the cat down he was asked what he was doing and was asked to leave by the family.

Miss Bradbury's dad then went to check on the cats outside and found the man sat on a park bench close to the garden.

When confronted the man said the cats had licked his face and he thought they were hungry.

Miss Bradbury said that she had not seen him with the cats earlier when they were playing on their own.

The man left shortly afterwards.
