A driver was allegedly punched in the face and shouted at while parked at a traffic light.

The victim of the alleged attack, a 40-year-old, was driving a blue Saab in Walton High Street when he is said to have noticed a car speed up behind and flash its lights.

A silver Vauxhall Corsa then allegedly overtook his car and both cars stopped at a set of lights.

The driver of the Corsa is then alleged to have got out, came up to the Saab, and shouted at and punched the face of the driver.

Police constable Katie Hanlon, from Surrey Police, said: "I am urging any other road users or pedestrians who were in the vicinity at the time of this incident [7.40pm on Tuesday, July 14] to think about whether they might have witnessed this reported offence or the manner of driving of either vehicle in the events leading up to it.

"This was a particularly nasty occurrence which left the driver and his female passenger very distressed."
