Firefighters from Sutton and Purley attended a house fire after curtains caught ablaze in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Fire services were alerted to a fire at Waterloo Cottages, on Wrythe Lane, yesterday morning after wind coming through an open window blew curtains onto nightlights that had been left out on a window sill.
It is understood that the fire started at 4.11am on the ground floor of the house on Sunday.
Two fire engines from Sutton and one from Purley shortly were mobilised and arrived minutes later.
But when the fire engines arrived the female resident of the house had already put out the fire.
The fire caused minimal damage and the woman was unharmed in the fire.
