UPDATE: The 76-year-old woman was taken to hospital by air ambulance but later died.

A woman had her leg trapped after being hit by a car, sparking a full scale emergency call out to the St Nicholas Centre in Sutton.

Ambulances, police and fire crews and the air ambulance were all at the St Nicholas Way shopping centre car park after reports came in at about 1.04pm.

According to the Metropolitan Police the woman, thought to be in her late 60s or early 70s, had her leg trapped under a green Nissan Almera.

The ambulance landed on the roof of the St Nicholas centre and it is understood that the woman was in the helicopter recuperating ahead of being taken to hospital.

No arrests have been made.
