Lying on a physiotherapy table Malachi Reid knows he has a long way to go to achieve his walking dream but is determined to get there.

The 10-year-old is back from the USA after undergoing life changing surgery to reduce the spasticity in his legs.

Now he has many months ahead of physio to build up the strength in his legs and help him learn to walk unaided.

His mother Coleen Reid said: “We want the public to know this isn't a quick fix.

“It’s a long rehabilitation which we are on so please be patient as Malachi takes on the biggest challenge of his life.

“We want to thank you all for making this possible. One day we hope Malachi’s only wish will come true.”

Money for the operation at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri, USA, came from fundraising by the people of New Addington and the wider area.

They are still fundraising to help pay for his rehabilitation and anyone who wants to help can donate at www.justgiving.com/malachisonlywish
