A routine stop and search on a car in Sutton has led to a major drugs find stashed under floorboards in a home five miles away.
Police officers on patrol in Carshalton yesterday spotted a suspect vehicle at about 5pm and stopped the car in Plumpton Way.
A search discovered a large amount of cash and a substance believed to be crack cocaine. He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
A second search was then carried out of a property in Norbury Crescent, Norbury.
Beneath the floorboards officers found another large amount of cash, suspected crack cocaine, a gun and CS spray, which was seized.
The man, 53, was further arrested for possession of a firearm and CS spray.
He is being questioned at a south London police station today.
