Designs are being drawn up to redevelop parts of New Addington with the public invited to have their say on the schemes.

Croydon Council is planning to redevelop Central Parade and build housing on the site of the Fishers Farm waste and recycling centre.

Proposals for Central Parade include a new leisure centre, new community centre, town and village green, more public space and new homes.

There is also the option for a health centre, along with a small supermarket.

Fishers Farm is earmarked for homes once a suitable alternative location is found for the existing refuse and recycling centre.

The firms appointed to design the redevelopment schemes are Peter Brett Associates, PRP and Holder Mathias.

Design options will be presented to the public in the autumn.

Planning applications for both schemes are expected to be submitted in December.

New Addington ward councillor Louisa Woodley said: "We are delighted that the people of New Addington can look forward to this exciting new development that will transform Central Parade into one of the most thriving and vibrant district centres in the borough."
