A machine which will help patients who have suffered a stroke to stand up has been donated to Epsom Hospital.
The Molift Raiser, worth more than £800, allows patients with mobility issues to easily go from a sit-down to a stand-up position on a transfer platform which, when unlocked, can move patients short distances such as to the shower or for treatment.
Family and friends of Edward W. G. Thomas donated money in his memory to the Epsom Medical Equipment Fund requesting it be used to help patients in the stroke unit at Epsom Hospital, where Mr Thomas was cared for.
Sarah Wilson-Owen, occupational therapy team lead from Central Surrey Health, to whom the equipment was presented, said: "This equipment enables patients to stand up at an earlier stage in their rehab and reduces the large gap between an electric hoist and walking equipment."
