A burglar who stole fishing equipment and alcohol from two garages has been jailed.
George Patching, 23, forced his way into a garage at the rear of the Day 1 convenience store on Stanley Park Road on May 6 and stole cases of beer and wine worth £150.
Only a couple of days later he broke into a garage at the end of a garden in Green Wrythe Lane and plundered £2,500 worth of fishing equipment.
Police carried out a search at an address in Budge Lane, Mitcham and recovered fishing equipment alongside a receipt for a fishing trip in the name of the victim.
Following second search, in Muschamp Road, Carshalton, Patching was arrested on May 22.
Patching had been captured on CCTV approaching the garage in Stanley Park Road and a dark coloured hat left behind at the scene was traced by DNA to Patching.
At Croydon Crown Court on Monday, he was sentenced to eight months jail after pleading guilty to both offences.
