Heathmere Primary School will be the first in London to get a network of Little Free Libraries.

The UK-wide initiative to promote reading and art for young people will see colourful ‘book nooks’ installed throughout the Roehampton-based school.

The project is run by charity Little Free Library UK which is using fundraising website Kickstarter to raise funds for the project.

Little Free Library director, Nick Cheshire said: "The Little Free Libraries encourage children to share books with one another as well as providing access to books in less conventional settings such as playgrounds."

Project partners and charity, Give A Book, will provide free books for the campaign.

The ‘book nooks’ will be built and designed by artists over the summer holidays and will be installed ready for the first day of term in September.
