A sixth person has been charged as part of a Metropolitan Police investigation into historic child abuse in Barnes.

Patrick Vernon Marshall, 66, has been charged with 17 offences that relate to seven alleged victims between 1968 and 1981, under Operation Winthorpe.

Mr Marshall, of Frensham Lane, Churt, Farnham, was charged with 16 counts of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 16 and one count of gross indecency with a boy under the age of 14.

He has been released on bail and will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 29.

Operation Winthorpe was set up to investigate claims of historic sexual abuse and misconduct at St Paul's School, Barnes, and its prep school Colet Court.

Earlier this month, former Colet Court teacher Anthony Fuggle, who was charged under the operation, was handed a four-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

He previously pleaded guilty to six counts of possessing indecent images of children and seven counts of making indecent images of children, although none involved children at the school.
