Dominic Raab, MP for Esher and Walton, has rejected an increase in his salary.
The current pay for MPs is £67,060, the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) recommends increasing the pay to £74,000.
Mr Raab said: "I support in principle the idea of a pay rise for MPs, independently set, because it had been artificially depressed for many years, which risks deterring people coming into politics from humble backgrounds.
"But, as I said throughout the election campaign, I don't think it's right for this change to happen when the rest of the public sector is going through a pay freeze or a 1 per cent cap.
"As long as that continues to be the case, I won't accept any increase in my MP salary. This is a personal choice. Every MP needs to consider for themselves how they address the issue."
