Doing well: Richlove Agyei and her lovely daughter

Richlove Agyei, 38, was on her way to get a taxi to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital with her sister after she went into labour about two weeks early.

But on her way to the taxi office, at the junction of Falcon Road and Este Road, she realised the baby was coming sooner than expected and called for an ambulance.

Miss Agyei’s sister spoke to the emergency operator and explained the baby was coming, and was told to get her sister to lie down.

She said: “I laid down and my sister told a passerby I was in labour and he ran to the fire brigade.

“About eight of them came quickly and a woman helped too. They did an amazing job and blocked the road.”

Today, Miss Agyei and her new baby girl, who is yet to be named, came face-to-face with James Stennett, the firefighter who helped deliver her baby, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Miss Agyei, who has two other children, added: “James and his colleagues really helped me. It didn’t take long, about 15 minutes and the baby came.

“I gave James a big hug and a big thank you and I said to him I want to go to the station and thank them myself and the lady who helped me.

“I owe them a lot – they’re my heroes.”

Miss Agyei added she hoped people seeing her story would be encouraged to help others in their time of need.

The mother-of-three would like to be reunited with the woman who helped firefighters to deliver the baby.
