Not a good look: Mr Wells has apologised for his behaviour

Master butcher Jason Wells, 50, who owns the Brew cafe chain in Putney, Clapham, Wandsworth and Wimbledon and is set to open branches in Kew and Chiswick, was seen getting out his 4x4 to give an explosive torrent of abuse to a cyclist he tried to overtake.

Since the video was released, cyclists across south-west London have taken to Twitter to suggest all riders should boycott the cafes.

On the Brew cafe website, it states the chain host bike workshop and coffee pitstops at an event called Unchained at Brew.

The event states Brew will “fix up your bike while you enjoy a coffee”.

In the four-minute video, a male cyclist is seen riding along Priory Lane, Roehampton, towards Richmond Park, when a Land Rover Discovery 4 attempted to overtake him at the roundabout at Dowdeswell Close.

Mr Wells, who lives with his wife and two children near Richmond Park, is seen slowing down before the gap between them narrows and there is contact.

After a few choice words between the cyclist and driver, Mr Wells gets out of his car and launches a full-blown volley of verbal abuse.

The video has received thousands of hits on this website and has since gone viral.

Speaking this morning, Mr Wells said: “In response to a video of an incident I was involved in on the March 14, 2015, I would like to apologise for any offence caused.

“My behaviour was unacceptable and regardless of the situation, I shouldn’t react like that.

“I fully appreciate that cyclists have as much right to the road as any other road users.

“I will be making no further comment at this time.”
