Cards and floral tributes have been left at Raynes Park station where a 24-year-old man was found dead on a bench on Monday.

The man has been formally identified as Daniel Connell, of Worcester Park, in a post mortem held this afternoon.

The cause of death is still being established but the British Transport Police are not treating it as suspicious.

The body was discovered on platform four at about 6am when a passenger alerted a newspaper seller who then called the emergency services.

Trains were disrupted as police closed off two platforms and trains heading away from London did not stop at Raynes Park station until normal services resumed at midday.

Police said the man was in accident and emergency at Kingston Hospital on Sunday night but discharged himself and made his way to the station.

His body was found about half an hour after the morning train services began. Rumours that the man had been stabbed were denied by police.

Tributes at the scene read: "The greatest friend I ever had and ever will have", while another said: "You were a great person and we all loved you."
