Move over Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, because a couple from Wimbledon have shown they have the moves to rival Hollywood's favourite Dirty Dancers.

After re-enacting the famous final dance scene from the film on their wedding day 18 months ago, Julia Boggio and her husband James Derbyshire decided to put their film on to the popular website YouTube for friends and family to view in America.

"Dancing is not my forte so I went over to my friends house before and after work to practice and get everything right.”

But more than 50,000 internet users logged on to see the wedding prancers and now the footage is ranked in the global top 50 most viewed and has made it into the top 100 most discussed submissions.

Mr Derbyshire, who married his sweetheart at Fonmon Castle, Wales, said: "I had no idea it would be so popular, we are approaching our second wedding anniversary but only put the video on YouTube last week. The number of hits to the website have escalated daily. It's unbelievable."

He said that comments about the video were quite negative at the start, because many people felt that the couple should not have tried to recreate the classic moment while other called James gay. But most viewers have now come round and are leaving more friendly messages on the site.

For Julia it was important to have the Dirty Dancing moment because the romantic classic is her favourite film.

It took a while to get the moves perfect and the couple, who got engaged at Tiffany's in New York, practiced for four to six months to ensure that the dance and lift were executed perfectly.

Mr Derbyshire said: "Dancing is not my forte so I went over to my friends house before and after work to practice and get everything right."

And it seems the practice paid off .

Ms Boggio added: "I'm glad that the video has become so popular, especially since 18 months after getting married it has given me a chance to watch my wedding video again and relive that happy day."

I can't believe that people would post negative comments about the video. Congratulations to Julia and James - it looks like you had a great day - surely that's what a wedding is supposed to be about?
