A teenager from Tooting is aiming to raise £800 to fund her volunteering trip to Guatemala to help vulnerable young people.

Amber Dalchow, 19, is going to be travelling to the central American country to help organise clubs and activities for young people who have been exposed to gangs and sexual violence.

She will be volunteering for 10 to 12 weeks with Y Care International and the government-funded International Citizen Service charity.

Amber, who works as a paintball marshall, has already raised £472 by completing a 30 hour famine and sponsorship.

The youngster, who attends Ricards Lodge High School in Wimbledon, said: "The 30 hour famine was horrible, not something I would recommend to anyone.

"However I hope it will be worth it as volunteering is a good way to help people."

She continued: "I look forward to meeting new people and I hope it will be a life-changing experience."

The teenager has to raise the cash by Tuesday, March 31 for a chance to go.
