Two women were taken to hospital after the hammer attack in Portland Road, South Norwood
A 28-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after two women were attacked with a hammer in South Norwood.
Aminul Islam, of Portland Road, South Norwood, is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court via videolink today.
He has also been charged with GBH with intent.
The charges relate to an incident on Sunday night in Portland Road, when police were called to reports of a man, armed with a hammer, assaulting two women in the street.
Both victims, who are in their 20s, were taken to hospital and their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
