A Caribbean restaurant cooked up a spicy feast for charity in its first fundraising dinner.

Chef Garfield Davidson of Ting 'n' Ting in Merton Abbey Mills, was pleased they raised £150 for Health Poverty Action with a tasty menu of Caribbean cuisine.

Mr Davidson won a competition to prepare a packaged meal for Sainsbury’s in 2000, appearing on Ready Steady Cook alongside Ainsley Harriott.

Guests to the first of many fundraising evenings on Wednesday, February 25, enjoyed a selection of spicy beef with potatoes, rice ‘n’ peas and cucumber salad, Jerk chicken wings, sweet potato wedges and coleslaw or mutton curry with rice.

Mr Davidson said: "Health Poverty Action is doing some really important work with poor and marginalised communities overseas and I wanted to support that.

"This fundraising night is a chance for the whole community to come together, enjoy some good food, have fun and raise important funds to help those who struggle to access the healthcare they desperately need."

Half of the evening’s profits were donated to charity.

There are plans to make the event a monthly occurrence.
