Children from a primary school have been getting into the groove for the first stage of a national dance competition.
The dance team, comprised of children in years five and six at Merton Park Primary School, will be performing in the regional heat of Great Big Dance Off at the New Wimbledon Theatre on Monday, March 16.
Deputy headteacher and dance leader Kate Parsons said: “Dance and the performing arts have been an important part of Merton Park School for many years.
“This team have worked really hard to get through to the GBDO finals and we are so proud of them.
“The children are very keen to help with choreography and are full of enthusiasm during rehearsals. I am sure they will shine on stage at Wimbledon theatre.”
Great Big Dance Off is the only national dance competition aimed solely at schools.
It aims to give children the excitement of performing on a professional stage in front of their family and friends. The London heat takes place at 3pm on Monday, March 16, at the New Wimbledon Theatre.
