Basketball championships spearheading an innovative match format drew more than 40 teenagers to Merton on Tuesday.

Sports charity B2B hosted the free-to-enter contest at Harris Academy Merton, with two on two basketball games played on half court.

Guest coaches from the London School of Basketball were on side to offer their tips and musicians were drawn in to offer live entertainment during match breaks.

Joseph Maye, who co-founded the charity, said: "In basketball in general there aren't many tournaments for young people to compete against each other and find out how good they really are, like there is in football.

"We thought, let's try and do something new to engage young people in the sport by using a different format."

B2B runs one-day tournaments around London. They also host weekly two-hour sessions in schools for six to eight week periods.

The charity aims to encourage young women into sport and all young people to embark on more active lifestyles and reduce antisocial behaviour.
