Vulnerable and disabled people will be aided by three schemes launched by the mayor.

Community Cab was developed in response to the demand to support people in wheelchairs who want to get to hospital appointments at peak times, and will provide a wheelchair accessible transport service to social events and to services.

As part of the second scheme, the Mole Valley district will trial two tracking devices which will allow vulnerable people to be more active, while family members have peace of mind.

The third scheme is provided by Elmbridge Council's telecare service and will offer an in-house monitoring system that can provide someone with round the clock reassurance.

Mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Barry Fairbank, held launch the schemes at Cobham Centre for the Community on Monday, September 22.

Councillor Christine Elmer, portfolio holder for social affairs, said: "I am really pleased to be a part of the launch for these three new exciting services that can make a real difference to the lives of Elmbridge residents, in enabling them to live safely and independently at home, and ensure they are able to access services throughout the borough."
