Tooting’s foodival served up more than 600 portions of locally-grown food to hungry residents at the weekend, smashing organisers’ goal of feeding 300 people.

The food festival, now in its seventh year, is a community-led initiative that sees people come together to share meals that have been cooked and grown using local expertise.

Foodival 2014 on September 13 saw food donated during the Batca Community Fun Day and Foodcycle the day before, with restaurants such as Al Mirage, Pooja and Rick’s Restaurant rustling up tasty dishes for the crowd.

Event director Dave Mauger said: "I've never seen so many smiling faces as I did over Tooting Foodival weekend.

"What a fantastic way to celebrate the vast amount of local growers and wide variety of Tooting restaurants. See you in 2015."
