A new Jewish primary school is moving from its temporary home in Wimbledon Parkside to Roehampton.
Work is expected to begin soon on building a base for the Mosaic Jewish Primary School, which admitted its first 30 pupils last September.
An application for the new school, which is the first Jewish primary school to open is South London, was approved by the planning committee on Friday, August 14.
New classrooms are expected to open in September 2015 and the school will eventually cater for 420 pupils.
Half of its intake will be Jewish but 50 per cent of places will be reserved for children of other faiths or no faith.
It will replace the side annexes to Hartfield House, a former carehome, which was declared surplus to requirements in 2012.
The services previously offered at Hartfield House have been transferred to a property in Earlsfield.
Planning chairman, Councillor Sarah McDermott, said: “This is a well-designed and attractive school building that will sit well alongside the important architectural and historic asset that is Hartfield House.”
