St George’s College has proved it has Weybridge’s answer to Jamie Oliver after coming out on top at a cooking competition.

Jemima Carter, year 7, and Katie Kerr, year 8, represented the school at the Rotary Club of Chertsey’s young chef of the year competition, with Jemima walking away with the coveted trophy.

As part of the challenge, students were required to produce a healthy two course meal at a cost of £6 in just 90 minutes.

Grabbing pots and pans, the students transformed their ingredients into tasty dishes for the judges to taste as the clock ticked away.

After all the dishes had been tasted and the scores were added up, Jemima’s chilli, pepper and tomato chicken with rice and sponge fingers with raspberry sauce and fresh fruit were named as the winning menu.

Jane Weaver, food technology teacher at St George’s College, said: "I am very proud of what Jemima and Katie achieved and the manner in which they worked - not easy when you are up against the clock and have three judges closely looking at what you are doing.

"Both girls were praised for the presentation of their food and table as well as the taste of their food"
