Mighty Roman legions clashed and fearsome gladiators fought at an ancient festival on Saturday.
The re-enactment, called Echoes of the Past, marked the Roman military festival of Rosaliae Signorum in Rosebery Park, Epsom.
A thousand people attended the day, which provided a glimpse into various aspects of Roman life and craftsmanship including armoury, pottery and jewellery.
An Epsom Council spokeswoman said children enjoyed taking part in an archaeological dig, making mosaics, entering gladiator school and trying on Roman armour.
She said: "It was really good. It ended with the Roman legions coming and doing battle.
"There was this charge into the crowd and the kids absolutely loved it. It was perfect weather and a good afternoon out."
