A teenager charged with possession of an imitation firearm at Wimbledon Station has received a community order.
Philippe Valapinee, of Kenley, Sutton, was arrested at the station on Sunday, April 6, following reports of a firearms incident.
Police shut down the station at about 4.30pm and arrested Mr Valapinee and another 18-year-old man.
Mr Valapinee, 18, was later charged with posession of a black handled GSR BB gun, while the second man was released with no further action.
The former Overton Grange student, a talented ice hockey player who represented English Premier League club Guildford after being scouted at Streatham Ice Arena, once aspired to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
After pleading guilty to the offence at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, Mr Valapinee was given a community order and sentenced to three months under curfew.
The teenager, of Upland Road, was also fined £145.
He was sentenced at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 23.
