Students and staff at St George’s College have donated more than 3,600 tins of food to the Salvation Army (SA).

The donation scheme was launched over the Easter term, following SA member Major Loxley’s visit to St George’s, Weybridge, to thank them for Christmas donations.

Major Loxley said: “The need for support in Addlestone and the surrounding area is greater now than in recent years as we are continuing to receive more referrals.”

Students and staff collected tins of vegetables and pasta as well as cereals, sauces and crisps to be given to people in need locally.

College chaplain Father Martin said: “It is a great privilege to work alongside the Salvation Army and support its Bring-a-Tin campaign, especially given the extra demands placed on the Salvation Army’s foodbank by families adversely affected by the recent floods.”
