A disgraced councillor who racially abused and assaulted a barman is due to be removed from the council committees he sits on.
Worcester Park Councillor Stephen Fenwick earlier this month pleaded guilty to a racially aggravated assault on a barman at a pub in Charing Cross station.
During the attack, which happened on January 4 after Coun Fenwick had spent the day drinking and watching football, he called the worker at Bonaparte's bar a migrant and told him to go home before brawling with him.
He was sentenced to a year's conditional discharge and has also been excluded from Sutton Liberal Democrats but has not resigned from his position as a councillor meaning he now sits on Sutton Council as an independent councillor.
During next Monday's full council meeting - which Coun Fenwick should be at - councillors are due to vote to remove him from the seven committees and groups he sits on.
These are: development control, licensing, pensions, scrutiny, environment and neighbourhood, the Sutton joint cemetery board and the council of governors at Kingston Hospital NHS Trust.
Coun Fenwick has resisted calls for him to resign from the council and has declined to be interviewed by this newspaper.
It is not known whether he will stand in the council elections in May although it is believed he faces disciplinary action from the national Lib Dem party.

Why was he represented the Lib Dems on committees between the time of arrest and the court case. As he pleaded guilty why was he allowed to do this. Lib Dens have loads of questions that need to be answered.

And so his arrogance continues. He will surely lose in the local elections, by which time he will have done immeasurable not only to his, former, party but also to the other local councillors who have suffered this cretin's stubbornness.
