It has been a disappointing night for X Factor fans in Croydon after Hannah Barrett was controversially eliminated from the show.

The 17-year-old from South Norwood found herself in the bottom two for the third time, against remaining Croydon act Rough Copy.

The results of the public vote shocked fans of the singing competition, after Tamera Foster secured enough public votes to proceed to the next round despite forgetting the words to her song for the third time.

Both Hannah and Rough Copy- made up of Sterling Ramsey, Joey Thomas and Kazeem Ajobe- received glowing praise from the judges after last nights performance.

During the 10th Anniversary show Hannah sang Alexandra Burke's winner's song Hallelujah. Louis Walsh told her: "I think for me, that was your best performance on X Factor," with Gary Barlow adding: "I love that you don't pick songs to chase votes. I just think you get better and better every time and that's what it's about."

Rough Copy who were fourth to perform, sang a cover of En Vogue song Don't Let Go, previously covered by Little Mix in 2011.

Nicole Scherzinger was the first to praise the boys saying: "Boys you got everyone excited because last week you was giving them the vanilla scoops but this week you gave them some caramel, some chocolate and you went to the ski slopes and you topped it off with some sprinkles."

Sharon Osbourne told the group she loved them, but wasn't keen on the song choice describing it as "whiny".

After learning they were in the bottom two Hannah sang Etta James' I'd Rather Go Blind, while Rough Copy sang Oasis hit Stop Crying Your Heart Out.

Following the sing off Scherzinger, Hannah's mentor said it was "a travesty" the two Croydon acts were in the bottom two. With her and Gary - Rough Copy's mentor both choosing to send home each others acts, Sharon and Louis both reluctantly sent Hannah home.

Speaking after her elimination Hannah said: "I just want to say I feel so blessed. They [Rough Copy] are my boys; those are my brothers there- if there was anyone I had to battle with then it was them. I am rooting for them lot."

Rough Copy will perform next week with the four other remaining acts- Tamera Foster, Sam Bailey, Luke Friend and Nicholas McDonald.
