A festive swing will be coming to New Malden as a big band takes over a community church for the night.

New Malden Methodist church will be the place to be this month as the well-known 17-piece big band orchestra takes to the stage.

The Dave Marrion band will be blowing trumpets, hitting down on the brass instruments and getting everybody into the Christmas spirit with a bang ahead of December.

Organised by the New Malden Rotary Club, the event aims to raise funds for the church.

Michael Robson from the Rotary Club, said: “It is pretty impressive and a very professional band – it is not amateur business at all. The songs and tunes are always really good. It has been going on for a few years now and there is usually a great turnout every year.

“I’m sure it will be very Christmasy and festive with the music and songs.”

The annual musical night which was a sell-out last year, will be reminiscent of American bands from the 1920s era.

Refreshments will also be available on the day.
