Autistic people are being invited to air their views and thoughts on what it is like living with the condition at a conference this month.

Sutton Council is holding the conference and it will feature representatives from groups including Ambitious About Autism (AaA) and the National Development Team for inclusion (NDTi) to lead the discussions.

Sufferers, together with their parents and staff from a range of agencies including social workers, medical professionals, police and housing experts will attend to make sure the needs of people with autism are being catered for in Sutton as the council looks to put together a strategy for the future.

Councillor Colin Stears, chairman of Sutton Council's adult social services and health committee, said: "As a borough, we are committed to trying to ensure that every resident is treated according to their own needs.

"We would like anyone who has something to say on this important subject to come along and tell us what they think."

The event takes place at Sutton Salvation Army Hall in Benhill Avenue from 1pm to 4pm on Friday, September 20.
